Lets Do These Together To Improve Positive Results

Positive Habits To Start Today in your journal

I have been journaling for a long time now. In fact writing in my journal is the reason I started my blog. After a full year of writing at least once each day I needed a new challenge. Of course making all my most private thoughts public was the natural answer. Being a big believer in the power of writing down positive points, journaling is natural for me. In order to give yourself an uplift when needed, add these tips to your routine. So here are some examples of five prompts you may want try. The challenge being to not answer with the obvious response. Take an extra few seconds and think of something you may not have journaled about previously.

I hope you enjoy the examples below and it renews your interest in writing to stay positive.

Write a list of things you are thankful/grateful for. Great to look back on!

In fact start a journal and write at least one thing your grateful for each day. I did this for a year, everyday. Some days multiple times. I know it sounds cheesy but it does have a way of snapping you out of a negative moment. For me I started out easy, I had days in which I listed my children and husband. I admit my dogs showed up on that list way too often.

So I kicked it up a notch and made a pact with myself to not reach for those easy answers. That’s when it really made the biggest difference for me. When I sat down and made an effort to really think of something I was thankful for that day. Sometimes it was my therapist or the veterans association. I think once it was the Dasher driver who went to work during COVID. A big one for me was when my daughter was released from her quarantine after she caught the virus during her work as a nurse. It’s really worth the effort to give yourself challenges when doing this..

What are the most amazing qualities of you? Complimenting yourself is a secret between you and the journal.

This is a great task. Highly recommend that you write down when journaling something that you really love about yourself. It’s not just a simple positive boost but a real way to turn your whole out look around. For me it’s my personality. It’s not for everyone, but I find I make friends easily and when I’m out in public I tend to have a way of turning things into a fun adventure. I will talk to total strangers and often find that even when I’m in a bad mood I can make other people happy. My pastime should be listed as, complimenting people.

What mistakes can you forgive yourself for? Leave it in your writing.

Letting go of something that has been weighing you down is a powerful uplift to any day. I tend to be really hard on myself. I made a lot of mistakes in my past with relationships. I really was working with a crappy hand of barely held together coping skills. I had a horrible example of a marriage in my parents and I was a toxic spouse. I have learned from my mistakes though and trying my best to do things differently this time. I had to take ownership of my mistakes and make a real effort to better myself in my current relationship. I have been able to forgive myself so that I can move forward. Also remember your journal can keep a secret, it’s a great place to leave things.

In what ways do you make the world a better place? Writing to keep motivated

I think that all of us have pondered our reason for exsitence at some point in life. Having an answer for yourself on those darker days can be a life saver. On my darkest days I know that my greatest contribution to society are my children. I raised them better then I was raised. Thus stopping the cycle of disaster. I have some other things tucked away for those rainy days but truly my purpose in life was to be a mother.

What parts of your life make you happy? Remember to dig deep for entries in your journal

I’m gonna wrap today’s post with an easy one. At least for me, I can name several things that make me happy. They range from a simple call with one of my children to one of the dozens of goofy things my dogs do on a regular basis. An example is my french mastiff 75lb. Puppy taught himself how to water himself. He realized just like my husband and I do when we want water, you just push the lever on the water cooler. He is such a nice guy too, he pushed it for his two brothers so they could get cold water. Five gallons of water later I have to admit he is pretty smart and generous.

I hope you get out as much as I did from writing about positive things in your life.

Journaling Can Boost Happiness in Five Minutes or Less

Research suggests that journaling can be helpful for reducing depression, anxiety, and stress. Journaling can also help you cope with emotions, create more focus, develop insights, reflect on behavior or feelings, and record precious elements of your life story. It’s often said that journaling helps you act as your own counselor.
